Heavy Equipment Mechanic

We are seeking Heavy-duty Equipment Mechanics to work in Canada. You may be on-call, possibly working overtime, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and nights.

You should be able to speak English and have trade certificates or diplomas. Ideally, you have 3-5 years of experience.

The work is physically demanding. It would be desirable if you had good attention to detail, manual skill, the ability to stand for extended periods, handle heavy loads, bend, crouch, and kneel.

You should have excellent oral communication, good Judgement, be dependable, reliable, and a Team player.

It would be best if you were comfortable instructing apprentices, ordering parts, maintaining inventory, keeping maintenance reports and documentation, having welding experience and performing repair work on heavy trucks.

Diesel Engine Repair Specialization

Ideally, you are familiar with fuel injection systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, installation and alignment of engines and machinery.

Mechanical Maintenance and Repair Specialization

Mechanical transmissions, Drive trains and final drives, Hydraulic transmissions, Power take-offs, Highway vehicle tires and wheels, Off-road vehicle tires and wheels, Brake systems.

Specific Skills 

The candidate will be able to troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions, diagnose defects or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required, adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications, clean, lubricate, perform other maintenance work, service attachments and working tools, and verify and repair emission control systems.
